God, something I’ve always loved is that- A lot of the other people Kay met up until this point had their own problems, their own worries. They weren’t really able to think about Kay’s planet all that much- They SYMPATHIZED, but they weren’t really affected by it. But here’s a person who seemed pretty happy with her lot in life, living on her planet with a construction company… And Kay mentions it and instead of brushing it off or just being confused and that’s it, pauses and immediately tries to be a helping hand.
She’s not here for the longest time out of any character, but I really think Arecibo has a big impact on the narrative just by doing that. And I love her. She’s nice.
